This is the year of the Lawyer, which portends joyous prosperity and litigious plenty. The grandest of the banquet halls to celebrate judgments in your flavor is at Susanna Foo's. It's the elegant Chinese restaurant in the city, where the most fortunate cookies may be found. Try Grilled Taing Tao Duck with Soy, Beer and Pineapple Sauce. This entrée is as crisp and thick skinned as a Circuit Court judge discovering his Opinion has been overturned by a unanimous Supreme Court. Duck chunks prevail heavy and moist in a light tart ginger broth: a pineapple velvet crush. A taste is a crunch of crusty grilled surface upon which adhere dark aromas and the citric calm of pineapple sweetness. The meat itself is supple, yielding and choice. Recommendable also are Venison in Watercress and Leek Sauce and Shrimp and Scallop Birdsnest, each concocted of vibrant sauces as if French cooking were at their heart. But the use of taro, coriander and snow peas brings us closer to unlimited free trade with mainland China.
